My family and I live in the beautiful state of Alaska where the spirit of animals and men roam free.
I tend to be an optimistic person. I believe writing is a language of the heart and is a beautiful way to share one's innermost feelings. I tend to be chatty so people are attracted to me. I am a friendly soul. I am married to a wonderful man. We have three children. There are times I feel like I was born with a pencil in my hand since I am rather comfortable with words and stories. I wrote my first story at six years old and shared it at dinnertime. It was about a pencil and my writing just took off from there. I starting writing in a journal as a teenager. I started life as a military brat. My Dad joined the Air Force when I was six months old. So the world has been my playground/ home. This is where I learned to treat people with respect and I learned to accept myself. I come from a Christian family which means I have always been in Church. When I was 17 I had a personal encounter with Christ. Since then I have been on a journey to learn more about Him and myself. I enjoy writing, reading, blogging, photography, scrap-booking, social networking, walking. I have never met a library or used bookstore that I didn't like.

I want to encourage people through the written word with the help of the whispered power of The Holy Spirit I write about the beauty and simplicity of life. Through my writing I want to reveal the beauty of Christ. I listen for the Lord's direction and write what is put on my heart to encourage the lost and broken souls of the world. I have been told that my writings remind people of the Psalms of David. I am similar to Ruth Graham Bell and Helen Steiner Rice. I have finally come to realize my purpose in life is to write what is on God's heart and encourage them with it.

Here is a poem that I wrote for my parents 50th wedding anniversary. It is published in my current book poems: " Inspirations from Heaven's Gate"

Love is a strange creature that no man can understand.
It is impossible to explain the connection.
It contains no reason or logic, it is magical.
It bypasses the mind and connects directly to the soul.
How does love live?
From the moment that their eyes connected and hands touched there was no other.
Before they knew it their lives were sealed together.
Even through the arguments no one else existed or mattered.
They were inseparable.

So; let’s pull up a chair.
I have a story to tell: One of love, loyalty and commitment.
Two people following different paths locked arms and started walking together.
Their love growing stronger with each passing day, lives now joined on an endless journey.
With only each other to depend on they made a life together one step at a time.
Guided only by God’s word they built a life and started a family.
In time they gathered many friends and came to understand that life is a mission field.
What a journey it has been; like a rollercoaster with all the twists and turns hidden in the dark.
Their strength and love the only light to guide them on this trip.
Life is never quiet with babies crying and mamas’ rocking chair never seemed to stop.
Through each passing year the love they shared grew stronger.

Their story is still being written.
They decide its path together with each step they take along with some divine intervention.
Never knowing what new adventure the next step presents.
For two people who weren’t quite sure what life was all about.
They asked “Will my life count for something?”

Let take a moment to reflect so as not to rush through a life or story.
Once alone; now they have built a special time together just for the two of them.
Through the addition of children and friends they have built and unbreakable and eternal bond.
Neither time nor death can break the bonds that they have formed.
Through their children and grandchildren they will live on forever throughout eternity.
Make no mistake however that each step was guided by their faith and belief in God.
He has helped them to build a strong family and protects them to this day.
God and they are on friendly terms, they have no doubt that when the time comes they will meet Him at the door welcomed into the heavenly family that He has promised his followers.
Until that time comes they will enjoy many more adventures together.
Through their 50 years together they have learned to be a friend to many others.
Their hearts and door have always been open to those in need.
Our lives would not be the same if they had not reached out to make that special connection.
Yes, they have made a difference in this world and the one to come.
Through you my life has been blessed in ways that I could never convey.
There is no doubt that you, yes you, have impacted and made a difference in many people’s lives.
Life is like a book.
You don’t want to rush through the pages.
You want to savor it; Like a rich plate of food.
The end of your journey will come all too soon.
The trick to a well lived life is not found in turning the pages too quickly.
It is to be savored slowly.
Not rushed but fully and completely digested.
There will be plenty of time for reflection once the memories have had time to settle in.
A life should be lived fully since you cannot comprehend the truth of what your life truly holds until the final page of the story is revealed.
You should not rush to turn these pages as they will turn themselves soon enough.
It is only at the end of the journey that we see all the pieces of the puzzle fall into place.
And only then will we understand our place in this world.
Only then will it all make sense.
This is when we realize that we have created something truly unique and beautiful.
Among all the scars and ugliness in the world you have provided a healing place.
Through the journey we learned that there is an unbreakable bond between family, friends, and God continuing for many generations to come.
The journey will never end.

“The righteous will flourish like a palm tree, they will grow like a cedar of Lebanon, planted in the house of the Lord, they will flourish in the counts of our God. They will still bear fruit in old age, they will stay fresh and green proclaiming, ‘the Lord is upright; He is my rock & there is no wickedness in Him.’” Psalm 92: 12-15 (NIV)

Dedicated to my parents:
Jerry and Dianna Chandler
You have set forth an example for all of us to follow.
